Widely known as Michael Jordans favourite colourway, the Royal was the first Air Jordan 1 made available for purchase.
In 1985 sports photographer Chuck Kohn froze in time the first ever imagine of Jordan wearing the Air Jordan 1, and it was a Royal. The only pair from the Top 3 Air Jordan 1 Retro colourways ('Chicago' & 'Banned') to never be worn on the court, since their initial release in 1985 the Royal has been dropped in 2001, 2013, and with the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Royal being released in 2017 the tradition continues.
